I look forward to the spring semester each year because we welcome old friends to our Alumni Awards (which double as our class reunions) and our Golden Gavel Society celebration, and we also celebrate our new graduates at convocation! I’m excited to present the Winter 2025 issue of Res Gestae, which features three alumni who are passionate about serving others, both through environmental work and volunteer efforts with underserved populations.
Establishing the Wagner/Holbrook Presidential Chair in Negotiation
Thanks to a $5 million gift from the I.J. & Jeanné Wagner Foundation, the S.J. Quinney College of Law is establishing the Wagner/Holbrook Presidential Chair in Negotiation, which will support recruitment and retention of tenured or tenure-track faculty in the field of negotiation.
Remembering Professor Emeritus Bill Lockhart
Professor Emeritus William (Bill) J. Lockhart, who taught at S.J. Quinney College of Law for nearly 50 years, passed away April 16, 2024, at age 90.

Golden Gavel Society: See 103-year-old George Fadel lead the group in song
George K. Fadel, who turned 103 in December 2023 and graduated with the class of 1948, led the group of alums and guests at the Golden Gavel Society in an impromptu song.

I’m excited to present the summer issue of Res Gestae! Though this is my first time working in academia, I’m the daughter of two public educators who instilled in me a love for learning and a passion for reading. My maiden name is Law, and my father secretly hoped one of his children would become a lawyer.
