FAQs
Official transcripts are processed by the University Registrar's Office. You can order a transcript.
You can view unofficial transcripts through Campus Information Services [Academic Records→View Unofficial Transcript]. These are available for students to better understand their own course history and to aid in planning for graduation. They are not intended to verify academic work for third parties.
Log into CIS. In the student section, go to Student Homepage. Click on the Tasks tile. Look for the hold reason, then follow instructions to contact the appropriate office to release the hold. If you have additional questions, please contact the law registrar.
It depends.
- For students enrolled in other University of Utah graduate programs interested in taking law courses:
- See our non-law student registration form and contact the law registrar with any questions. Non-law students are not allowed to register for first-year law courses (catalog #6000-6180) nor required upper-level courses (7410 & 7900).
- If you are interested in auditing/attending a course as a non-degree student:
- You must complete a bachelor’s degree or higher before enrolling in a class.
- Auditing a course requires an application and both instructor and administrative approval. Contact the law registrar for additional information. Non-degree students are not allowed to register for first-year law courses (catalog #6000-6190), MLS courses (6200-6999), nor required upper-level courses (7410 & 7900).
- Additional considerations:
- There needs to be room available in the course at or after our open enrollment date.
- Complete the graduate non-matriculated student application through main campus by their deadline (spring: Jan. 1, fall: Aug. 1).
- Auditing students will be charged per credit for the course. See the resident and non-resident per-credit tuition schedules.
- Interested in taking classes as an HB60 student?
- While law classes are not part of this program, we encourage you to visit the Continuing Education website for a list of courses.
J.D. students may elect to take one advanced non-required course for CR/NC. Students may not exercise the CR/NC option in any College of Law required course (e.g., Constitutional Law II, Legal Profession, courses taken to fulfill the seminar writing requirement, experiential courses taken to fulfill the experiential learning requirement) or any course that a student will count toward a certificate in specialized study. To receive credit, students must earn a grade of C- or better. Students must elect the CR/NC course using the College of Law form sent to the registrar no later than p.m. on the last regularly scheduled class day of the semester.
If you are interested in using your CR/NC election for a misc. class please email registrar@law.utah.edu by the class end date.
For fall 2025, the CR/NC form will be available Nov. 17 and due by 5 p.m. on Nov. 25 for regular session courses.
If you would like to meet in person or over Zoom to discuss your graduation progress, please schedule a meeting with the Associate director of student activities/advising.
