From our senior director of development and alumni relations: Spring 2024

RES GESTAE | Spring 2024

Lexie Kite, a young white woman with shoulder-length wavy blonde hair, sits in a chair near a red block "U" in the law building Dear alumni and friends,

The spring 2024 issue of Res Gestae is here! As you read through these stories, you will understand why Utah Law is rising to our highest heights ever in the U.S. News rankings at #28 nationally and #11 among public schools. You will read about our newly established Golden Gavel Society to celebrate all law alums who graduated 50+ years ago. Our inaugural event gave more than 75 alums the chance to reunite and share memories over an open mic. We also had not one but two musical performances: one from an alumni quartet that included Dean Kronk Warner, and one impromptu song by 103-year-old class of 1948 alum George Fadel.

That article also gives you an inside look at our Utah Law Alumni Awards, where we hosted more attendees than ever before at a glitzy awards ceremony honoring our Alumni of the Year, Roger Thompson and Professor Jim Holbrook, and other incredible awardees.

You will also get to meet one of our stellar Master of Legal Studies graduates, John Seegrist, who embarked on a new career after earning his degree. Finally, we’ll give you all the details on the impactful Great Salt Lake Project led by Professor Brigham Daniels in partnership with alum Brian Steed (class of 2002).

I also want to take the chance to introduce myself as the relatively new senior director of development and alumni relations. I received my Ph.D. at the U in 2013 (alongside my identical twin!) and have been working in development at the University of Utah since then. It has been such an honor to join the College of Law and work with two of the best team members: Violet Maw, our development officer, and Brendan Sudberry, our alumni relations and development engagement specialist.

I’m grateful for continuing to be part of the Utah Law community where we have the most incredible alums and supports. Thank you for all you do for SJQ!

Lexie Kite
