From the Dean’s Desk: Winter 2024

RES GESTAE | Winter 2024

Dear alumni and friends,

Interior of S.J. Quinney College of Law with lots of windows and natural lightWelcome to the Winter 2024 issue of Res Gestae! In this issue, the common thread is a passion for helping youth in the justice system. We recognize a former Utah judge who also worked as a social worker and in the attorney general's child protection division, along with an alum with a passion for youth restorative justice. We also spotlight a brand-new scholarship for students who demonstrate commitment to the College of Law's Bystander Initiative, a program whose catalyst was a child abuse case in West Virginia and that now focuses on the role of bystanders and enablers in such cases.

Winter is a busy time at the College of Law. We are looking forward to the William H. Leary lecture on Feb. 22, the Utah Law Alumni Awards on April 12, and, of course, convocation on May 10. I look forward to seeing both current students and alumni at these exciting events.

While we publish In Memoriam each winter, remembering alumni who have passed away, we also enjoy hearing about the great milestones you're achieving. I encourage you to submit your successes and accomplishments to Class Notes, published each fall.

I'm grateful for continuing to be part of the Utah Law community.

Chi Miigwetch (thank you very much),

Elizabeth Kronk Warner
