As an undergraduate majoring in political science at the University of Utah, Tonia Hashimoto recalls the moment she was encouraged to say “yes” to an opportunity that set her career on an unexpected and fulfilling path. She was talking with the late former Salt Lake City Mayor Ted Wilson, Hinckley Institute of Politics director, who advised her to intern with the institute. Initially uncertain, she agreed. This experience opened countless doors for her.
