The Career Development Office at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law is excited to announce that it will host its inaugural Legal Career Options Day on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 5:30-7:30 PM. Legal Career Options Day is a high energy networking event that will allow participating employers to connect with every student in the 1L class long before hiring traditionally takes place. All organizations are invited to attend, including—but not limited to—private practitioners, local, state, and federal government agencies, businesses, public interest organizations, and the judiciary. No resumes will be exchanged during this event, as its purpose is to allow you to make a personal connection with the students you will be seeking to hire in the spring and beyond, and we know these connections make the biggest difference when students choose career opportunities. Importantly, while this is a great way to meet the 1Ls before spring hiring kicks off, it is also one of the best ways to make connections for hiring in the second year and beyond.

During the first hour, from 5:30-6:30 PM, students and employers will have the opportunity to interact with one another in a tabling format. Each organization will be provided a 6-foot table, tablecloth, and table tents displaying the organization’s name. Employers are encouraged to bring any swag, literature, or signage displays that represent the organization. It is advised that you send at least one or two representatives per organization but no more than three. Participating employers will be on an even playing field, having the same space as every other employer, and the same chance to engage students, making it ideal for employers big and small, private employers and public entities, and anyone else looking to hire our incredible students. During the second hour from 6:30-7:30 PM, attendees will have the opportunity to leave their tables and engage with students one-on-one over hors d’oeuvres.

We will get you more details in the coming weeks but want to make sure you save the date today! We hope to see you there! If you have any immediate questions, please contact, Amanda Barr, Programs Manager at amanda.barr@law.utah.edu.
