College of Law Seeks LEED Platinum Certification for New Building
“LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is transforming the way we think about how our buildings and communities are designed, constructed, maintained and operated across the globe…At its core, LEED is a program that provides third-party verification of green buildings. Building projects satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification.” Read more about LEED »
LEED has five sustainable design categories:
• Sustainable Sites
• Water Efficiency
• Energy and Atmosphere
• Materials and Resources
• Indoor Environment Quality
To achieve LEED Platinum certification, multiple sustainable strategies have been included in the building’s design and construction. These strategies reflect and help achieve the goals of the five key design categories.

Adding to the excitement, the environmental goals of the College exceed the standards set by the US Green Building Council and LEED Certification requirements. For example, we are implementing a number of innovative sustainability elements as well as complimentary programs encouraging green behavior, such as green transportation practices, utilizing reusable products, and wise water consumption. This combination of educated occupants who are aware of, responsive to, and support the ongoing environmental gains of the building is the key to a truly successful sustainable building:.
