Jason Owen serves as the Assistant Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid at the University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Allegheny College and his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School. Prior to serving at Utah Law, Jason was the Assistant Dean of Admission at the University of Idaho College of Law and Capital Law. After graduation, Jason practiced bankruptcy and child welfare law at a small firm in his hometown of Erie, PA. Active in Pennsylvania politics for nearly two decades, he worked closely with former Governors Tom Ridge and Mark Schweiker.
Jason’s experience with the Law School Admission Council began in 2015 with his service on the LGBT Subcommittee. He went on to chair that subcommittee, renamed the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Subcommittee and served on the planning committee for both LSAC Equality Conferences. He served on the search committee for the Vice-President of DEI at LSAC. He was appointed to the LSAC’s National Recruitment Workgroup in 2021 and again to the SOGI Subcommittee in 2023. He has presented at the Boston, San Diego, Phoenix, and Montreal Annual Meetings. Recently, he was appointed to the Mission & Impact Committee and serves as the Chair of the Outreach and Community Support Subcommittee.
Jason serves as a Commissioner on the American Bar Association’s SOGI Commission. He previously served as a Public Member on the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and a Bylaws Committee Member of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
