The online system for Clerkship Application and Review (OSCAR) will be available to rising 3L students on Thursday, May 26. Starting that day, students interested in federal judicial clerkships may use the OSCAR website to research judges and apply: https://oscar.uscourts.gov/index.php?_subtab=appreg.
Please note the following critical application dates for federal judges following the 2011 Federal Law Clerk Hiring Plan:
10:00 a.m. (EDT), September 6, 2011: Oscar will release the electronic applications for the 2012 law school graduates on this date.
10:00 a.m. (EDT), September 9, 2011: First date judges may contact applicants to schedule interviews.
10:00 a.m. (EDT), September 15, 2011: First date and time when interviews may be held and offers made.
Please remember that not all federal judges follow the Federal Law Clerk Hiring Plan. After logging into OSCAR, students can identify whether the judges that they are interested in applying for clerkships with will participate in this plan. In addition, the Judicial Clerkship database (http://www.law2.byu.edu/career_services/government_publicservice/judicial_clerkships/rocky.php & password found in the Document Library on Symplicity) should identify whether or not a particular federal judge accepts applications for clerkships through OSCAR.
