Cynthia D. Mares, immediate past president of the Hispanic National Bar Association, visited the S.J. Quinney of Law last week for several events. Mares spoke at a luncheon at the law school hosted by the Minority Law Caucus and Minority Bar Association (UMBA) titled “Pathways to Leadership.”
While president of HNBA, Mares championed “Law School – Sí Se Puede,” an innovative program that pairs judges and attorneys with under-served high school seniors interested in pursuing higher education and law school.
Local television station Univision interviewed Mares during her visit.
Mares also spoke to the law school’s “Kids Court” program and was the speaker at the UMBA annual scholarship banquet. S.J. Quinney faculty members Bob Flores and Reyes Aguilar organized Mares’ visit to the law school.
