Students honored with scholarships from the Utah Minority Bar Association

Several University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law students were honored with scholarships from the Utah Minority Bar Association (UMBA) earlier this month.

Each year, law students at the University of Utah and Brigham Young University apply to receive student scholarships from UMBA ranging from $500 to $6,950. Scholarships are awarded based on an application and an essay. Scholarship winners are also assigned a lawyer mentor through our UMBA’s “pipeline program.”

In 2015, UMBA awarded over $38,000 in scholarships based on students’ academic achievement, record of service to racial and ethnic communities, and potential to positively impact and represent Utah’s racial and ethnic communities in their future legal career.

 Scholarship recipients this year include:

Anabel Alvarado

Dominca DelaCruz

Melinda Dee

Mel Moenvarizi
