Richard Richards, ’61, died on January 30, 2015, at his home in South Ogden. He was 82.
A native of Ogden, Richards was the former chairman of the Republican National Committee. He also served three terms as the Utah Republican Party chairman.
He was the first state chairman to endorse Ronald Reagan’s campaign for the White House and later worked closely with President Reagan. He also served as a senior adviser in President George H.W. Bush’s campaigns.
Upon graduating from the College of Law, in 1961, Richards entered private practice. He spent 20 years practicing law in Ogden.
Services for Richards will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5161 S. 1300 East, South Ogden. Viewings will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 6, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden; and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral.
