Kogan to present at Yale University on April 6

University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law Professor Terry Kogan will present research at Yale University on April 6.

“Non-compliant Bodies: Social Equity and Public Space” will explore how the discipline of architecture tends to overlook or actively exclude persons who fall outside white, male, heterosexual, able-bodied norms. The symposium brings together a cross-disciplinary group of designers and scholars to explore the relationship between architecture and the demands for social justice voiced by people who have been marginalized.

Kogan’s presentation will explore the ways in which different types of codes have regulated the sex- separation of public restrooms across American history.

Kogan is the sole attorney presenting at the conference, which will also feature a group of major architects and gender studies scholars.
