George to Be Honored for Her Work Helping Victims of Sexual Violence at April 3 Ceremony

Erika_George_yptriiErika George, Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, has been selected to receive a Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) award for the work she has done to help victims of sexual violence in the state of Utah.

In particular, the award recognizes George’s efforts on behalf of refugee and immigrant women, according to the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault, which is organizing the awards ceremony. George was nominated by members of the Social Justice Student Initiative, including Nubia Pena, Brit Merrill, Liza Bacon, Gabrielle Barker, Caitlin McKelvie, Krystaly Koch, Melissa Moeinvaziri, Briana Allen, and Dominica De La Cruz.

“I am deeply humbled to have been selected and hope this recognition will serve to sustain our commitment to work on the human rights issues affecting women globally and locally,” George said.

The awards ceremony will be held on Friday April 3 at 3:00 p.m. on the Fourth Floor of the Salt Lake City and County Building (451 South State Street).
