Dryer plays role in creation of model instructions for use in defamation actions in Utah state courts

The Utah Judicial Council’s Advisory Committee on Model Civil Jury Instructions has adopted a set of model instructions to be used in defamation actions in Utah state courts.

The model instructions, known as MUJI 2d: Defamation, were drafted by a subcommittee chaired by University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law Professor Randy Dryer. The subcommittee spent almost a year drafting and updating the instructions which were last revised in 1993.  Dryer_Photo_rjbf2p

“The law governing defamation actions in Utah has changed dramatically since the original instructions were drafted and the revised rules will provide much needed guidance to both Utah practitioners and judges,” said Dryer.
