University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law Professor Robin Craig recently received the following two appointments.
The National Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine’s eighth Committee on Independent Scientific Review of Everglades Restoration Progress, which goes by the unwieldy acronym of NASEM CISRERP VIII. The Committee is charged with reviewing the progress of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Program; scientific review is required by Congress. Craig is the team’s legal advisor/resource. The first meeting is May 12-16, 2019 in Miami and will include an Everglades tour. The Committee meets 5 times a year.
The Environmental Law Institute’s Small-Scale Fisheries Law Project Consultative Committee. The project is looking internationally to identify small-scale (generally artisanal or indigenous) fisheries with management systems that are functioning well to try to derive principles that can more generally be implemented to similar fisheries elsewhere. Both the project and the Committee are international in scope. The first meeting will be sometime in Spring 2020 in Washington, D.C.
