University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law Professor Jorge Contreras will present new work on liability rules for genetic and other health data on June 1 at the 9th Annual Meeting of the Association of Law, Property, and Society (ALPS) in Maastricht, Netherlands. His work looks at two case studies of liability rule regimes that have obviated the need for individual consent for data-based research: the Utah Population Database and Statistics Denmark (co-authored with Francisca Nordfalk, Copenhagen University).
