University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law Professor Jorge Contreras delivered the closing address to the graduating class of Maastricht University’s Advanced IP Graduate Programme on June 15. 
He spoke about private ordering and flexibility in intellectual property systems, focusing on voluntary pledges made by firms to refrain from the full enforcement of their patent rights (patent pledges).
