Ellen M. Maycock (’75) to be honored at the Bar’s Spring Convention
Maycock will receive the Dorathy Merrill Brothers Award, which honors contributions to the advancement of women in the legal profession. Maycock, a 1975 graduate of the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, practiced at Kruse Landa Maycock & Ricks for 39 years. She recently joined Michael Best & Friedrich. She served on the Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Rules of Evidence and as chair of the Ethics and Discipline panel. She was named Woman Lawyer of the Year in 1998, and received the Utah State Courts Service to the Court Award in 2007. In 2008 she earned the Utah State Bar Professionalism Award. Her practice began in litigation and family law and is currently focused on family law.

Judge Augustus G. Chin (’95) to be honored at the Bar’s Spring Convention
Chin will receive the Raymond S. Uno Award, which honors the advancement of minorities in the profession. Chin,  a 1995 graduate of the S.J. Quinney College of Law, was appointed to the Holladay Justice Court in 2011. Prior to entering law school he was a civilian employee of the Department of the Army at Tooele Army Depot. He served as clerk to Judge Tyrone E. Medley, and then worked as a prosecutor for the Salt Lake City Prosecutor’s office and the Summit County Attorney’s Office. He served as Utah State Bar President from 2006-07 and president of the Utah Minority Bar Association from 1998-99.

Dan Garrison (’95) recently recognized with the national “Turnaround of the Year” by the Turnaround Management Association

For two decades, Garrison has assisted clients with corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, commercial and real estate litigation, and corporate and real estate transactions. Garrison has also been listed in Southwest Super Lawyers®, a designation limited to the top 5% of attorneys in the southwestern United States, has been named to Best Lawyers in America®, and been named to the “Top Lawyers” list for bankruptcy by Arizona Business Magazine in multiple years. In 2007, he received the “Turnaround of the Year” Award from the Arizona Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association, and was one of two finalists for that award again in 2012.
