Helen Serassio, ’00, is Special Counsel for the Federal Transit Administration in Washington, D.C. She brings more than twelve years of experience at the U.S. Department of Transportation to her role as Special Counsel for the award and oversight of the $10.4 billion in relief funds for response to damages from 2012’s Hurricane Sandy. Helen’s education and emphasis in Environmental Law at the S.J. Quinney College of Law is used every day in her job. She fondly remembers her professors, particularly Dean Adler, as helping her learn what she needed to know to succeed in her career.
Helen’s specialties include Environmental and Natural Resourses law, including the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Section 4f of the DOT Act, National Historic PreservationAct, Environmental Justice, Invasive Species and the Coastal Zone Management Act. She also teaches Environmental Policymaking and Policy Analysis, and Environmental Impact Analysis at Johns Hopkins University.
