Alumna Denise Dragoo honored by Utah State Bar with 2018 New Lawyer Training Program Outstanding Mentor Award

University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law alumna Denise Dragoo is the recipient of the Utah State Bar’s 2018 New Lawyer Training Program (NLTP) Outstanding Mentor Award, the organization announced on Friday.

Dragoo is a 1976 graduate of the College of Law. 

The Utah State Bar’s NLTP Outstanding Mentor Award is given to Utah State Bar attorneys who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the mentorship of Utah lawyers by providing intellectual leadership, creating a supportive environment, acting as advocates and promoting diversity and inclusiveness.

Dragoo is a partner at Salt Lake City-based Snell & Wilmer. She focuses her practice in natural resources and environmental law, including coal, water, mining, public land and issues affecting the oil and gas industry, mine safety and health law. She practices before the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, the Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining, the United States Department of the Interior Board of Land Appeals and state and federal courts. Prior to Snell & Wilmer, Dragoo served as Special Assistant Utah Attorney General to the Utah Board and Division of Oil, Gas & Mining and was responsible for drafting the Utah Coal Mining and Reclamation Act.
