The US Dept of the Interior released an economic contribution report today. According to the executive summary, Interior accounted for $385b of economic activity in the US Economy for 2011. That’s a big number, but most came from oil and gas — which was lumped together. Considering that Interior propounds its “diverse mission,” are they downplaying the (economic) importance of oil/gas so that they appear more balanced? See the report here, and media coverage here.
In other news, Aurora, CO approved a five-year deal with Anadarko to provide 30,000 barrels of water a day. Anadarko will use the water for their fracking operations in Wattenberg Field.
