Austen Paulsen (’16) join Slater Matsil as a patent attorney
Paulsen focuses his intellectual property law practice mainly on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. He also provides clients with patent litigation and licensing support, including patent validity and infringement analysis. Prior to joining Slater Matsil, Paulsen gained patent prosecution experience at both US Synthetic Corporation and ALG Intellectual Property, where he worked with various technologies including polycrystalline diamond, optics, 3-D imaging, X-ray imaging, and semiconductors, among others. Throughout law school, he worked as a fellow for the Center for Law and Biomedical Sciences where he helped students competing in the University of Utah’s Bench to Bedside competition to obtain patent protection on medical devices through provisional patent applications.
