In November 2014, the Utah Air National Guard Base was renamed after Brig. Gen. Roland Wright, a 1958 graduate of the University of Utah College of Law who practiced law in the Salt Lake City area for more than 30 years.
Wright, whose distinguished military career spanned three decades, flew 200 combat hours with the 357th Fighter Group in Europe during World War II. After the war, he was one of the first to enlist in the 191st Fighter Squadron when the Utah Air National Guard was created in 1946. He subsequently flew missions in Korea and Vietnam.
