Quinney College Students Victorious in IP Moot Court Competition

It was announced today that the S.J. Quinney College of Law’s own Alex Stein and Abe Bates defeated the BYU team in the final round of the Giles Rich IP Moot Court local competition. This may qualify the Stein-Bates team to participate in the regional competition to be held in Houston, Silicon Valley, Chicago, and Boston on the weekend of March 20 – 22, 2009.

According to David Jones, attorney at Workman Nydegger, “both Alex and Abe displayed a professional, well prepared, and talented performance in front of three U.S. District Court judges as well as many of the local legal community.”

Sponsored by the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), now in its 36thyear, Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court Competition, is “named for a member of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit who was the most distinguished jurist in the field of patent law in the world,” as noted on AIPLA’s website.
