On July 19, Lori Nelson, ’92, was sworn in as president of the Utah State Bar during the bar’s annual convention in Sun Valley, Idaho.
An Idaho native, Nelson has practiced domestic law with the law firm of Jones Waldo for the last six years, holding leadership positions both on the board of directors and in the domestic practice group.
She is only the fourth woman in Utah history to serve as bar president.
In a press release, Nelson said, “This is a tremendous honor — not just to represent women, but to represent all lawyers. I truly believe in the nobility of the profession, and I respect the members of the Bar who everyday work with professionalism, civility and integrity. It is so humbling to serve them in this capacity because of how they exemplify what it means to be a lawyer.”
