Matheson Authors S.L. Trib Editorial on Limits of Presidential Power

Scott Matheson, a professor of law at the S.J. Quinney College of Law and constitutional law scholar, recently published an op-ed, “Security, liberty and the limits of presidential power” in The Salt Lake Tribune.

In the op-ed, Matheson argues that President George W. Bush claimed “exceptional” executive power that undermined constitutionally guaranteed individual liberties.  He also compares Bush’s wartime record with those of his predecessors, including presidents Wilson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt.
