Robert Keiter, Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law and Director of the Wallace Stegner Center, was elected vice president and president-elect of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation (RMMLF) at the organization’s annual meeting held at the Foundation’s annual trustee meeting in Newport Beach, California on July 18, 2012.

“I’m quite pleased to have the opportunity to lead the foundation in 2013-14 and to help continue its tradition of providing high quality legal education programs to the natural resources bar. It’s truly gratifying to receive this recognition from my peers in natural resources law across the region,” Keiter said.

RMMLF is a collaborative educational non-profit organization dedicated to the study of the law and regulations relating to mining, oil and gas, water, public lands, land use, conservation, environmental protection, and other related areas. It is governed by a Board of Directors and guided by a Trustees Council that includes representatives from 30 law schools, 13 bar associations, and 18 mining and oil and gas associations. The Foundation hosts an Annual Institute every July that regularly draws 800 or more practicing lawyers to a 2-½ day legal education program, and it offers a series of special institutes and conferences throughout the year in the Western United States and abroad.

Keiter will serve a one-year term as president, beginning in July 2013.
