On May 11, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution published an op-ed that Amos Guiora, Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, coauthored with Emory University law professor Laurie Blank. Guiora and Blank argue that torture is both “ineffective and illegal” and should not be used by the U.S.
Taking the counter position is Marc A. Thiessen, a visiting fellow with the American Enterprise Institute. He argues that the location of terror mastermind Osama bin Laden was determined largely as a result of the CIA interrogation program that President Obama shut down, and that Obama should restore the program.
