Amos Guiora, a Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, recently co-authored an op-ed piece that appeared in the January 4 edition of the Los Angeles Times.
The editorial, “Don’t deny detainees their day in court: Indefinite detention of post-Sept. 11 detainees without charge or trial is not the American way,” is critical of the Obama administration’s plans to establish “indefinite detention without trial for detainees at Guantanamo Bay.” The authors further argue that this move “completely undermines the basic notion of individual accountability,” and constitutes “a fundamental miscarriage of justice.”
