George a Panelist at International Extractive Industries Symposium

On February 8, Erika George will speak at Loyola University Chicago School of Law’s International Law Review Symposium titled The International Impact of Extractive Industries.

According to George, “The symposium brings together the corporate sector, NGO activists and academics on the issue of corporate social responsibility and human rights concerning the conduct of extractive industry corporations and a new regulatory provisions requiring disclosures.”

George will participate in a panel on contract and revenue transparency that “will examine the trend towards transparency in negotiating contracts in the extractive industry and the influence of the publish-what-you-pay movement and the extent to which these initiatives can stop embezzlement, corruption, revenue misappropriation and ultimately reduce the propensity towards conflict in resource rich countries.”
