On February 25, 2010, the Deseret News reported on testimony that David Rudd, dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Science at the University of Utah and scientific director of the U’s National Center for Veterans Studies, gave before the U.S. Congress on the use of prescription antidepressants by members of the U.S. military.
Testifying before the House Veteran Affairs Committee, Rudd said that, “The reality is that the efficacy of treatment — both psychotherapy and medications — far outweighs the observed risk for suicidal thoughts and behaviors.” Rudd was testifying on behalf of the American Psychological Association.
