Robin Craig, Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, was quoted in an August 19 Florida Current article, “Long battle likely if Florida takes water fight to U.S. Supreme Court, experts say.”
The article details Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s decision to file suit in the Supreme Court to halt what he calls Georgia’s “unchecked and growing” water consumption. The suit asks that the Court directly allocate water among Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
Craig notes that the Supreme Court typically has been reluctant to become involved with lawsuits of this type, and that these suits are typically prolonged, “usually on the order of five years.”
