On April 1, Paul Cassell, Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, published an op-ed in The Salt Lake Tribune.
In “Misdemeanor preliminary hearings both costly and cruel,” he argues against the Utah Supreme Court’s recent determination that Class A misdemeanor cases, and just felony cases, are entitled to a preliminary hearing.
“The decision’s harm to taxpayers and crime victims promises to be substantial,” Cassell writes.
The op-ed is available on The Tribune’s website.
