Brown Interviewed on NPR Affiliate KCPW about Prisoners as Organ Donors

Teneille Brown, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, was interviewed on Salt Lake City National Public Radio affiliate KCPW’s “Cityview” program on Wednesday, November 6, 2012.  The story focused on the ethics, policy and practice of a proposed bill that would require state prisons to seek consent from prisoners to donate their organs if they die while in prison.

According to KCPW, “Proponents say this is just current practice that should be formalized as law, but some worry about coercion and health risks.”

In addition to Brown, other guests on the segment included Jim Tabery, a philosophy professor at the U, and Steve Gehrke from the Utah Department of Corrections.
