Tom Leavens, an adjunct professor at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, is the author of a new book, Music Law for the General Practitioner, which covers a variety of music-related topics including band issues, publishing, personal appearances, and finding value in music transactions.
“I am so proud to have this in print,” Leavens said. “It is an exciting time for my practice — having worked with the American Bar Association on this music law book for almost two years. I hope that other lawyers around the country will find it a trusted reference in our field.”
Leavens is a founding partner at Leavens, Strand, Glover and Adler LLC. His entertainment background includes serving as general counsel for the once-largest US-based record company Platinum Entertainment, Inc. where he produced many recording and television projects, including 16 House of Blues Essential Blues recordings. He also served as general counsel for LRSmedia, LLC and MusicNow LLC, where he focused on television production, brand development, webcasting and online music downloads.
