Exterior U sculpture with snowUtah Law was listed as no. 8 on LawCrossing’s 2026 Law School ROI Rankings. LawCrossing, a legal job database, compiles its list of law schools that offer the best return on investment (ROI) by considering the following criteria:

  • Employment quality (40%): Full-time, long-term legal positions requiring bar passage and weighted by firm size and federal clerkship placement
  • Employment rate (30%): Percentage of graduates who find qualifying legal employment within 10 months of graduation
  • Cost efficiency (20%): Total cost of attendance adjusted for regional cost-of-living variations
  • Bar passage (10%): First-time bar passage rates and bar passage success within two years

The S.J. Quinney College of Law received an ROI score of 83.6, with an employment rate of 88%, median law school tuition debt of $85,000, starting average salary of $105,000, and a bar passage rate of 94%.
