Professor Chris Peterson, a consumer finance expert, has been nominated by New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill to serve as the director of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. Peterson will begin serving as acting director on Aug. 3, pending his formal nomination to the position, which is subject to state Senate consent.
He previously served as a senior official at the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and will continue his faculty appointment at Utah Law, teaching his consumer protection seminar remotely during the fall semester.
