Utah Law honored alumni and the JD and Master of Legal Studies (MLS) class of 2025 at its annual Alumni Awards on Friday, April 11. Dean Elizabeth Kronk Warner, Alumni Board of Trustees Chair Stephanie Warner (JD '09), and Young Alumni Association President Trent Lowe (JD '16) presented Arthur B. Berger (JD '93) and Richard D. Burbidge (JD '72) with Alumni of the Year awards.

- Honorary Alum of the Year: Justice Paige Petersen
- Spirit of Quinney Award: Michelle Oldroyd (JD '00)
- Young Alumni of the Year: Kayla Quam (JD ’15) and Joseph E. Rupp (JD ’16)
Student Bar Association President Seth LaPray, 3L Representative Haley Kendall, and MLS Representative Christina Rodriguez presented awards to the following students, who will be graduating in May or August:
- Outstanding MLS Colleague: Mark Ward
- Outstanding 3L Mentor: Seth LaPray
- Outstanding Community Advocate: Avery Emery
- Outstanding Student Leader: Seth LaPray
- Outstanding 3L Colleague: Kiwi (Kaite) Hogan
Dr. Caisa Royer also presented Pro Bono Initiative awards, recognizing Avery Emery as a student volunteer and Andrew Somers (JD ’23) as an alum volunteer.
Marilee Miller (JD '06) says she enjoys attending the Alumni Awards because it's wonderful to see old friends, while Engels Tejeda (JD '06) appreciates the new event format that began in 2024.
"My favorite part about the Alumni Awards is that it's so concise. It runs on time, it's brief and to the point, but it's inspiring and awesome. The staff have the formula down," he says.
