Dear alumni and friends,
I look forward to the spring semester each year because we welcome old friends to our Alumni Awards (which double as our class reunions) and our Golden Gavel Society celebration, and we also celebrate our new graduates at convocation! It’s rewarding to meet so many of you and catch up on your accomplishments.
This issue recognizes three alumni who have stayed connected with the College of Law: Denise Dragoo (JD '76), a Utah Law Board of Trustees member and mining law expert, former Young Alumni Board President and now President Elect of the Board of Trustees Tomu Johnson (JD '11), who currently mentors Utah Law students, and Michelle Oldroyd (JD '00), director of professional education and outreach at the Utah State Bar, who previously served as an adjunct professor and now encourages young lawyers to find their place in the profession.
And speaking of alumni, Professor Jensie Anderson (JD ’93) will retire this spring after 25 years teaching at Utah Law. To honor her legacy of innocence and post-conviction work, we are establishing an endowment in her name. Help support law students by contributing to this scholarship in her name.
Thank you for everything you to do help the College of Law, whether it’s sharing our stories on social media (did you know we’re on Bluesky now?), volunteering with our Pro Bono Initiative, attending our events, or generously funding our fellowships and scholarships. Dean Kronk Warner and I just returned from visiting alums in Washington, D.C. ,and will be in Southern California, Seattle, and other regions in the coming months. I love traveling the country and meeting such amazing alumni, and I look forward to seeing many of you in the year ahead!
Best,
Lexie Kite
