Schmaltzy and as this may sound, take a moment over this Thanksgiving break to think about those who have helped you. Then, take five minutes and dash off an email or handwritten note (even better) to three of those people. It will mean the world to them–whether a professor who clearly cares about you as students; a classmate who has lent you an outline; or a colleague who has provided you with helpful advice. Sometimes being a professional means more than handing out cards and meeting new people (although that is important). Don’t forget it. Those you thank certainly won’t forget you!
