A Letter from Jess Hofberger, Director of the Professional Development Office, S.J. Quinney College of Law

Thank you students and alumni for permitting me the honor of serving as your next S.J. Quinney Director of Professional Development! I pledge to do my best to lead the kind of Professional Development Office you want.  My objective is to ensure every S.J. Quinney student has the skills, resources and confidence to identify, apply for and obtain meaningful employment that supports their career goals.

I am a 2004 graduate of the College of Law, and am returning “home” with a legal background that includes time with Meuleman Mollerup in Boise, an 18 month deployment with the U.S. Army, a year clerking for Justice Ronald Nehring at the Utah Supreme Court, several years practicing commercial litigation with Anderson and Karrenberg in Salt Lake and just over three years as a Department of the Army civilian attorney in Grafenwoehr, Germany.

One of my goals is to structure the PDO in a way that is responsive to your input. So please come and share your experiences and goals with me. This can be an emotional experience and so, to break the ice, I offer my personal resume.  Since learning that I landed this job (my dream job by the way) I have realized it is a total mess- but I can’t be afraid of your criticism if I expect you not to be afraid of mine.

Stop by and say hello- and let’s work out a plan for your future.

-Jess Hofberger
