Oath and Certification

Upon matriculation to the College of Law, all students are required to take the following Oath and sign the following Certification:

Oath

“I do solemnly affirm that I will support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Utah; that I will discharge the duties of a law student with honesty and fidelity; and that I will strictly observe the Student Code, the Utah Standards of Professionalism and Civility and the Utah Rules of Professional Conduct as they apply to my professional, educational, and personal activities as a law student.”

Certification

I certify that I understand my obligation and agree to observe the Student Code, the Utah Standards of Professionalism and Civility and the Utah Rules of Professional Conduct as they apply to my professional, educational, and personal activities as a law student.  I further acknowledge that I have an ongoing obligation to report to the College of Law any arrests, charges or convictions (excluding minor traffic violations) or other behavioral activities or misconduct, including but not limited to academic misconduct, which could negatively affect my character and fitness to practice law.
