Detailed Information for Students:
Line-up of Graduates
All graduates need to be dressed in regalia and are lined up outside of Kingsbury Hall no later than 9:15 AM on Friday, May 15th. Please plan your arrival accordingly and take into consideration that parking is available in the stadium lot and shuttles will be running between the two locations.

Regalia
Bookstore staff will be onsite for last minute emergencies such as lost tassels and minor items. Please bring cash for any replacement pieces. You are not able to purchase or rent full regalia the morning of the ceremony.

Guest Seating

Tickets are not required to attend Commencement and any interested attendees are welcome. Guest seating is available in designated sections and rows of the Kingsbury Hall auditorium. The academic processional will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Families and guests not seated prior to the 10:00 a.m. start time will have to stay in the lobby and waiting areas until after all graduates and program participants have entered the building.

Special Seating / ADA Accommodations
Special seating arrangements for guests in wheelchairs or those having difficulty walking will be available, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Please see an usher for reserved seating. There is additional seating available near this reserved area for those accompanying persons in wheelchairs. It is suggested that you arrive early to guarantee a seat in the area in which you would like to be seated.

Parking permits have been distributed for those requesting ADA parking. For those that did not request a parking permit you will still be able to drop off ADA guests on President's Circle on the East side of Kingsbury Hall and park the vehicle in the stadium or other handicap designated stalls.

Parking
Campus parking lots may be used at no charge during the Commencement ceremony. Families are encouraged to drop off those who cannot walk long distances at Kingsbury Hall on President's Circle before parking their cars. Parking for commencement is available at the Rice-Eccles Stadium parking lot, with shuttles dropping off at Kingsbury Hall.

Photographs
A professional photographer has been authorized to photograph all graduates. Please note that candidates are under no obligation to purchase these photographs. Candidates who want to purchase pictures are requested to bring a pen or pencil to complete an information card for the photographer.
Please note that guests may take photographs as well, but will not be allowed on the floor of Kingsbury Hall during the Commencement ceremony.

Diplomas
Diplomas are mailed to student graduates within three months of graduation. Please use the online Campus Information System (CIS) to make any corrections to your mailing address to ensure proper delivery of your diploma.

March 1
The name that appears in CIS on March 1, 2009 is what will appear on the diploma and commencement program. It is the responsibility of the student to verify all name changes and spelling. Please do not wait until March 1 to attempt a name change. This process is handled through main campus and may take multiple business days to go into effect.

JD & LLM candidates must purchase the PhD/Doctoral regalia. The robe has red embellishments and the tassel and hood are purple. All other regalia offerings (stole of gratitude, honors society chords, etc are optional).

Email reminders & notifications will go out prior to Commencement, please check your inbox after classes have ended for any last minute changes.

Cap and Gown (Regalia)
Information regarding graduation regalia (Cap, Gown, Tassel, etc.) is handled through the University Bookstore. We encourage you to take care of this step as it becomes available to you and be mindful of all posted deadlines.

Caps and gowns are available for purchase at the bookstore April 1-3 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Doctoral Package, which includes cap, gown, and hood, is $65.00.
For $83, you can purchase a package that also includes a "Stole of Gratitude." Please note that a Stole of Gratitude is not a required piece of regalia for commencement.

DO NOT purchase a Masters Package - the Masters gown is different in appearance and does not include the red adornments that appear on Doctoral gowns.

A postcard should be coming your way via the bookstore.

Additional Information
The University of Utah General Commencement will be held on the morning of Friday, May 8, 2009 in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. This University-wide ceremony will confer all College degrees en masse (except the Schools of Law and Medicine).
