Clinical Professor in Law
Professor Richards received an honors B.A. degree from the University of Utah (1981) and earned a J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law (1984), where he served on the "Utah Law Review" and was a member of Order of the Coif. Before joining the faculty, Professor Richards was vice president and assistant counsel for KeyCorp, and was a shareholder with the Salt Lake City firm of Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy, where he specialized in the areas of natural resource and environmental law, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy. He also served as assistant Utah attorney general and was judicial law clerk to The Honorable Stephen H. Anderson, 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Professor Richards teaches legal methods, document drafting, and lawyering skills.
