Participation
Participation in the Pro Bono Initiative is strong. The academic year of 2010-2011, PBI had 335 law students volunteering on various pro bono placements throughout our community. The Class of 2011 set a record high of 48 students graduating with the Certificate of Service and set an all-time record of over 4,500 donated volunteer hours on various legal projects throughout our community.
It is not required, but all law students are encouraged to perform at least 50 hours of law-related volunteer work before graduation. To qualify, work must be uncompensated, earn no credit, and in the service of the public interest as defined in A.B.A. Model Rule 6.1 (voluntary pro bono publico service).
