Attorney Information
What does this mean to me as a practicing attorney?
The PBI staff actively seeks a broad range of pro bono opportunities for our volunteer students. If you are an attorney who advocates for low-income and disadvantaged Utahns and are interested in the prospect of working with one of our law student volunteers, please contact us. Students can assist on the following: client intake, interviewing, fact investigation, legal research, writing, and third-year students may be qualified to appear under the 3L practice rule. Law students can work in your office on a weekly basis throughout the semester or help you with a specific case or project an extended period of time. As you make arrangements to work with volunteers in your office, please be aware of these general guidelines:
- Most law students can only volunteer 3-5 hours per week and can make commitments only on a semester-by-semester basis depending on the project.
- We list pro bono projects year-round.
- As the attorney supervisor, you will be required to hold a brief exit interview with your student volunteer at the end of the project.
- And you will be required to fill out our online Student Evaluation Form once the project is completed.
