John Wiethorn, a 3L at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law and the Student Director of the Street Law Clinic, was recently interviewed on KNRS’ show “Feedback with Abby Bonnell.” In the 15-minute interview, he discusses the Street Law Clinic, the Pro Bono Initiative, and the clinical programs at the College of Law.
The interview, which airs on a number of KNRS-related stations, is available here.
The Street Law Clinic is a brief legal advice clinic that handles general civil litigation matters. Low-income residents come to the clinic on a walk in basis to receive free legal advice. Law students conduct the intake interviews and work with on site supervising attorneys to provide legal advice for a wide range of issues.
Wiethorn started regularly participating in the Pro Bono Initiative Clinics during the second semester of his first year of law school. He says that the experience allowed him to develop the interviewing, research, and people skills needed to help the clinic run smoothly.
