Disable File and Printer Sharing
Note: Disabling this feature will block other user from access your files/printer when connected to a network. We recommend that you disable this feature on your laptop.
Please save all your work and close all open windows before proceeding with this tutorial, as you may have to restart your computer.
To disable File and Printer Sharing in Windows XP:
- Click Start -> Control Panel -> Network And Internet Connections -> Network Connections.
- Click on Local Area Connection and click the Change The Settings Of This Connection task (look on the left side of the Network Connections window).
- On the General tab, remove the tick beside File And Printer Sharing For Microsoft Networks, then click OK.
- Repeat step 1 to 3 for all network connections (modem, wired, wireless).
