Michael W. Devine

Mr. Devine has developed a number of business ventures for the Northwestern Band of Shoshone Nation (the “Tribe”). These ventures include construction, information technology, translation services and energy divisions.

Previous to his tribal work, Mr. Devine had served in an Of Counsel capacity with Parsons Behle & Latimer, Utah’s largest law firm, practicing transactional law. After receiving his J.D. at Georgetown University, Mr. Devine began his practice with Stoel Rives, where he practiced in natural resources. Mr. Devine graduated with an M.Sc. in Economics and completed his coursework for a Ph.D. at the London School of Economics. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University. For approximately ten years he studied and worked in Europe, including Vienna, Berlin, London and Florence.

He has created a number of non-profit organizations, including the Flamekeeper Foundation (an organization that provides funding for other non-profits and scholarship programs), and the Intermountain Tribal Alliance (a Native American cultural and welfare organization). Mr. Devine serves on the Executive Board for American Indian Services. He is also a member of the Executive Board of Trustees for the American West Heritage Center.
